This is a 3D-printed replica of a 11th-century Chola bronze depicting Hanuman.
A thousand years ago, a Chola master cast this bronze of Hanuman in conversation, one hand raised in reverence, the other open in speech, his whole form leaning toward Rama. The original, made in the Kaveri delta, is now in New York, far from the temple that once carried him.
This figure is a likeness of that bronze. It is 3D-printed, not cast, built layer by layer and faithful to the original’s pose, lean and proportion. It is a replica, not the mūrti itself, and is made so that his form can be seen, his story told, and his name spoken.

An utsava mūrti
Chola bronzes were festival images. The stone deity stays in the sanctum, while the bronze goes out to his people in procession. Each figure ships with an insert card telling the story of that festival day, from dawn abhisheka to the evening return to the temple.

Offer a few flowers or a small garland, with reverence. Keep him in a quiet, shaded place away from harsh midday sun, as a temple keeps its bronzes in the cool of the sanctum.
